Welcome to FSMA-Online
PURPOSE
The purpose of the FSMA is to
promote the professional identity and stature of its members and
the medical assisting profession through education and
credentialing.
OBJECTIVES
- Well
informed enthusiastic members committed to professionalism
and to the society.
- Positive awareness of
medical assisting as a profession and recognition of the
FSMA as its representative.
- Education that prepares
the medical assistant to provide competent service to
employers and patients.
- Certification recognized
as evidence of entry level competency at current standards
of the medical assisting practice.
- Protection through
legislation of the medical assistants right to practice.
- Qualified, competent and
committed volunteer leaders.

AFFILIATION
FSMA is affiliated with the
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) located in
Chicago, Illinois. AAMA's home page is

RIGHT TO PRACTICE
Medical assistants, in the
state of Florida, are governed by the Florida statute. The
Florida Medical Practice Act (chapter 458.3485) regarding
medical assisting may be viewed here.
