Florida Society of Medical Assistants

President's Address

Theresa Errante-Parrino, CMA (AAMA), EMT-P, BMXO, MEd.

Thank you to members of this state society for electing me as your new State President. I first become involved with this society 10 years ago when I received an invitation to the CMA Luncheon. At that time, Mary Keho, CMA was the first to introduce herself to me and took an interest in me, introduced me to Treasure Coast Chapter members, and has mentored me through the years. Mary also had told me that one day, I would be up on state board that I saw as very powerful and a bit intimidating. Now, as I look back 10 years, I see what Mary saw in me, a star waiting to shine. Now here I am with my theme of Stars Light the Way through FSMA.  To me, Mary was the Brightly Shining Star that illuminated my Way to get to this Presidency. Along the way, my chapter members also helped to keep me on the path to this position. I also have had many other strong supporters shed their light as a guiding force lead me to this position and I say Thank you.

My theme for the coming year is: STARS LIGHT THE WAY THROUGH FSMA.

S-Strengths

T-Tenacity

 What is a STAR?

According to Merian Websters Dictionary a star is glowing ball of Gas.

When I saw Glowing I associated with bright, illuminate, twinkle, and Red Giant (large star that glows red) I also thought some more about the star and realized

Stars have 5 points each point- having a principle still spelling out star

Set goals- what are the goals, where do we want to be by 2020

Think-how do we create more STARS, Was a new Star born?

Act-implement changes

Review –assess, what works, what didn’t and why/why not did not work. Learn from the changes

Supply improvement-how can we keep our light from burning out?

These are all characteristics that will help us to excel in our goals.

 L-leading- through leadership,

I-Inititative-

G-Gain- knowledge

H-Higher- aim higher

T-Targets- new views

Why does a start glow? Because the air around it is never still; therefore the light appears to move, giving the star its twinkling effect. If the air around the star did not change, the star would burn out and be a Black Dwarf, there would be no more light. So I am here to help you let your light shine, reach your star potential within the organization, illuminate the way (not just twinkle) and be a brightly shining star.

 Thank you.
